Laurie J. Meilleur graduated in 2003 from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She earned a B.A. degree in Philosophy. In 2007 Laurie earned her law degree from the Claude Pettit College of law at Ohio Northern University. In law school, Laurie was President of the International Law Student Association and Vice-President in the Legal Association of Women.

From 2008 to 2009, Laurie worked in the North Carolina Attorney General's Office. She defended state agencies in the Tort Claims Division, including the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Department of Environmental and Natural Science, Department of Public Instruction, and the Department of Health and Human Services. Laurie's work involved submitting briefs to the North Carolina Industrial Commission, the North Carolina Courts of Appeal, and the North Carolina Supreme Court.

From 2009 to 2011, Laurie worked as an Attorney Advocate in the Guardian Ad Litem Program with the State of North Carolina.

Laurie then was employed as a Special Deputy Commissioner with the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Her work included serving as a law clerk; presiding over pro se tort claim videoconferences; reviewing and approving workers' compensation agreements; and many other responsibilities and duties within the Commission.

Laurie has recently begun her own law practice in Raleigh. She represents clients with a focus on employment and tort law. Laurie appears before and within administrative agencies and courts across North Carolina.

Laurie is Of Counsel to our firm and assists the Law Offices of Stephen R. Paul with many matters, ranging from court appearances and arbitrations to engaging in investigations, examinations, depositions, and helping with major, complex trials.
